Animal identifier: farm glossary
An animal identifier distinguishes one animal from another in the farm’s records. An ear tag is a familiar identifier, while a name can make the animal easier to recognise during daily work. The identifier connects birth, care and production entries with the animal they describe.
A farm example
Two animals can have similar names but separate ear tags. Using the right animal card keeps the observations, group changes and milk or weight entries attached to the intended animal. A calf’s birth note and later weight entry describe two events in the same animal’s life.
Everyday use
HerdMobile stores each animal’s details and dated history in its card. Searching or opening that animal before entering an event helps the farmer keep the daily records together.
How HerdMobile helps
Bring your animals, feed stocks and farm accounts together on your Android phone. HerdMobile keeps your daily work moving offline: record events, compare feed quantities and follow sales and payments in one place. Use your own feeds and herd information to prepare a ration, then keep a backup file under your control.
