Herd: farm glossary

A herd is a named group of animals managed together in farm records. The name can match the group used in the barn, pen or grazing area. Individual animal histories belong with their own animals, while the herd brings the group together for everyday work and feeding plans.

A farm example

A farm can use separate groups for milking animals and growing stock. Moving an animal changes its current group while its own birth, care and production history remains attached to the animal. Milk records for the milking group and weight records for growing stock follow the animals in each group.

Everyday use

HerdMobile organises animals into herds and opens individual cards from those groups. This helps the farmer find the right animal and prepare a feeding plan for the selected group.

How HerdMobile helps

Bring your animals, feed stocks and farm accounts together on your Android phone. HerdMobile keeps your daily work moving offline: record events, compare feed quantities and follow sales and payments in one place. Use your own feeds and herd information to prepare a ration, then keep a backup file under your control.
