Ear tag: farm glossary
An ear tag is a visible identification label carried by an animal. Its recorded number helps distinguish that animal in the farm’s history. The tag number can be read in the barn and used to find the matching card. A name, breed or group adds useful description alongside it.
A farm example
A birth or care note belongs to the animal whose tag was checked. The same tag links later weight, milk and group-change records with that animal’s earlier history.
Everyday use
HerdMobile keeps the ear-tag number with the animal card. This makes it easier to find the animal during daily work and keep new events with its existing records. A temporary identifier provides a label while final ear-tag details are being completed.
How HerdMobile helps
Bring your animals, feed stocks and farm accounts together on your Android phone. HerdMobile keeps your daily work moving offline: record events, compare feed quantities and follow sales and payments in one place. Use your own feeds and herd information to prepare a ration, then keep a backup file under your control.
