Birth date: farm glossary
Birth date is the date an animal was born. It provides a starting point for following its age and early history. The date of birth and the date the note was entered can be different when the record is completed later. Both relate to the same animal, with the birth date describing the event itself.
A farm example
A calf born during the night can be entered on the phone the next morning. Its birth date belongs to the actual birth, while the later entry adds the event to the animal’s history. The time from birth to today gives the animal’s age.
Everyday use
HerdMobile keeps birth information in the animal card alongside dated events. It helps the farmer follow the animal’s age, identify it and find the care notes from its early life.
How HerdMobile helps
Bring your animals, feed stocks and farm accounts together on your Android phone. HerdMobile keeps your daily work moving offline: record events, compare feed quantities and follow sales and payments in one place. Use your own feeds and herd information to prepare a ration, then keep a backup file under your control.
