Kidding: farm glossary
Kidding is the birth event in goats. It links the doe with her newborn kids and the date of the birth. Preparation notes describe planned checks, while the birth entry describes what occurred. Each kid’s identity allows feeding and care observations to stay with that particular young animal as its history grows.
A farm example
A doe with several kids has one birth event and several individual young animals to follow. Naming or tagging each kid helps connect later observations with the correct animal and mother.
Everyday use
HerdMobile brings animal relationships and dated birth notes together. The farmer can find the doe’s event and follow the first care recorded for each kid in the animal histories.
How HerdMobile helps
Bring your animals, feed stocks and farm accounts together on your Android phone. HerdMobile keeps your daily work moving offline: record events, compare feed quantities and follow sales and payments in one place. Use your own feeds and herd information to prepare a ration, then keep a backup file under your control.
