Partial payment: farm glossary
A partial payment is a payment that settles only part of a transaction. The amount received reduces the outstanding balance, while the rest remains due. Several partial payments can belong to the same sale. Each payment has its own amount and date, which explains the order in which the balance was reduced.
A farm example
A buyer may pay once on the sale date and again later. The sale total stays the same, while the sum of those collections determines the amount still to be paid.
Everyday use
In HerdMobile, recording each collection against the transaction helps follow instalments and the remaining receivable. The farmer can check the dated payments before the next conversation with the buyer.
