Receivable: farm glossary

A receivable is money owed to the farm that is waiting to be collected. It is linked to the sale or other transaction that created it. The original amount, payments received and remaining balance describe how that receivable changes over time. A sale can therefore appear in the farm account before all its money reaches the farmer.

A farm example

When an animal buyer pays part of the agreed price, that collection reduces the receivable. The unpaid part remains attached to the sale for the next payment check.

Everyday use

HerdMobile helps follow sales, collections and remaining amounts together. Dated payments make it easier to see which buyer and transaction the outstanding balance belongs to.
