Printable daily ration record sheet

Write down your feeding plan with its group, date and weight basis on a free A4 ration sheet. Keep offered amounts, dry matter assumptions and prices distinguishable. Use this blank record to share the current feeding plan clearly across the farm team, with target quantities and ingredient details beside each row.

Fields on the sheet

State group, date and head count above. Follow the arithmetic example, then enter the quantities and current kilogram prices from your own feeding plan to check daily cost per head and for the whole group.

What information belongs above the ration?

Write the business, herd or feeding group, the date and the number of animals, and note which ration plan is in use. A group changes when animals enter, leave or move between production stages, so confirm the head count before multiplying per-animal amounts. State whether the record describes a planned ration, feed offered or feed actually consumed. Label planned, offered and consumed amounts separately so each measurement can be compared with the correct record. Keep separate dated sheets whenever the ration changes.

How do I keep dry matter and as-fed amounts separate?

The amount weighed into a trough is normally as-fed weight. Multiply that amount by the measured dry matter percentage and divide by 100 to obtain dry matter kilograms. For example, 20 kg at 35% dry matter contains 7 kg of dry matter. The example only explains the column conversion. Use a representative analysis for the batch and preserve its reference. Equal dry matter amounts do not mean two feeds supply equal energy, protein, fibre or minerals.

How should I fill the cost columns?

Use a price per as-fed kilogram with the as-fed amount. Multiply them to obtain a daily feed cost per animal, keeping all prices in the same stated currency. A price per tonne must be divided by 1,000 first; a sack price needs the actual sack weight. Keep delivery and tax treatment consistent if comparing plans. The line totals are a feed-cost subtotal, not profit. Do not select a cheaper plan without checking whether it still meets the animal group’s nutritional and safety requirements.

What should the person feeding the animals check?

Compare the feed name and batch with the stock actually available and confirm whether quantities are per head or for the whole group. When the plan changes, record the difference and the replacement ingredient, keeping the date and reason with the sheet. Keep the phone up to date through HerdMobile’s ration and consumption forms, then check the saved result against the sheet. Create the ration and record daily stock consumption separately in the app so both histories stay current.
