Reset a forgotten app PIN with your phone’s lock
If you forget your app PIN, tap Forgot PIN and unlock with your Android screen lock, fingerprint or face check to set a new one. Your herd records stay safe on your phone and the app lock remains on. Older encrypted ZIP backups still open only with the PIN used when they were created, so keep those backup files and their original PINs in separate safe places. Right after setting your new PIN, create a fresh backup and make sure the file is saved.
Review ad personalization and usage analytics choices
Ad personalization and Usage analytics are separate choices in the app. Set personalized ads and usage statistics separately; ads continue according to your chosen advertising setting. Review the actual profile controls and the current privacy information. These app settings are also separate from a website’s consent controls or Android’s system permissions.
Deliberately delete the app’s local device records
Delete Local Data clears the app’s local profiles and records on this device after a confirmation. This action clears all local profiles and records on the phone; use the individual record’s controls for a smaller correction. Make a deliberate decision and preserve a usable backup beforehand if you may need these records again. Restoration requires a suitable backup file and any required PIN.
Create and review a ration suggestion
Use Suggest ration to build a daily feeding plan for a single animal or an eligible herd group. Check the target animal or group, production details, and stock option first, then review the suggested feeds, daily amounts, and shopping list before assigning the ration or recording daily feeding.
Run the current-stock ration cost search
Find best cost searches for a compatible ration using the supported target and current stock. The simple farmer form asks for weight, daily milk and lactation information; its stock mode is fixed to current inventory. A feasible result creates an optimized template. After reviewing the template, assign it to the intended animals, arrange needed purchases and record daily feeding separately.
Manage the visible feed list and feed records
Use the ration overview’s feed controls to prepare local feed records, enter an actual price and record genuine initial stock. Enter the catalogue feed, quantity and price in the feed form, and keep laboratory reports with your batch documents. Compare catalogue reference values with the laboratory report for the feed batch you have on the farm. Check the business and the real product before using a feed record in a ration.
Create a ration template for the selected herd
Build a named ration template using your farm feeds and the daily kilograms fed per animal. Check the business, herd, and animal species before saving. When you create a herd ration as the business owner, it is automatically assigned as that herd’s active plan. Saving a template sets the plan; record daily feeding separately to deduct feed from stock.
Assign a ration copy to an individual animal
Use Select ration on the animal’s ration panel to assign an independent copy of a ration template. This sets the animal’s active feeding plan; log the feed actually given and deduct barn stock separately in Daily ration feeding. Check the ear tag, feed items, and species match first—tapping a template assigns it right away.
Record today’s ration and deduct actual feed stock
Use Feed today to log the day’s feeding for your selected business and herd. The form pulls planned totals from your active ration assignments. Check the actual kilograms fed before saving to record consumption and deduct feed stock in one step. Assign templates first, then use Daily ration feeding to log what went into the bunk.
Edit the animal’s visible feeding profile
Open Feeding profile for the correct animal to review its observable production information. The current farmer form exposes live weight, lactating and pregnant choices where applicable, and daily milk volume when lactating. It keeps expert fields out of this short flow. Enter known facts and leave an unknown weight blank instead of inventing a measurement.
Change the app language on this device
Choose the app’s display language from the Language card in your profile. The picker lists languages by their native names and marks the current selection. Selecting another language saves it for the active local profile. Choose the language for app controls; your own notes, animal identities and business currency retain their saved values.
Find animals fast with herd-list search and filters
Use Search animals and the filter buttons to narrow down your herd list without changing any animal records. Search matches ear-tag numbers, while species, status and quick filters work together. If an animal doesn’t show up, clear your active filters and search by its ear tag again.
Import animal records from a CSV file
Import a checked animal list into one selected business and herd from the owner profile’s Bulk Animal CSV Import control. Prepare the column names shown by the app and review the import counts afterward. Use this form to add basic animal records in bulk; use backup ZIP and restore for a complete phone move.
Save and call a local veterinarian contact
Keep a veterinarian’s name and phone number in the owner profile’s Veterinarians card. Choose the correct business when adding the contact and check the saved phone number before using Call. Save the contact on your phone, then tap the call button when you want to arrange a farm visit.
Add notes and a photo to an animal event
Keep a written observation and an optional photograph with the relevant animal event. Check the ear tag before opening Add Event, choose the event type that actually occurred, and use Note for the details. Attach a dated photograph to help follow changes and share clear observations with the person caring for the animal.
Record a general income or expense
Use General Income or General Expense for other business transactions; record milk sales, animal sales and feed purchases in their dedicated forms. Select the business first, enter a clear title and a positive amount, then verify the resulting finance entry. Keep this local money record with the receipt for the actual bank or cash transaction.
Create, postpone or complete a reminder
Add a named reminder to the correct business, choose its category and timing, then check it in the calendar. The creation form offers 1 min, Tomorrow and 7 days rather than an unrestricted date picker. Quiet hours and Android notification settings can affect delivery, so the calendar record is the place to verify the task.
Export farm records as CSV or an animal PDF
Use Reports in the profile area to share an owner’s animal, finance, milk, feed or live-sale CSV, or a selected animal’s history PDF. Choose the file type for your actual purpose and inspect the exported file. Use reports as readable copies for checking and sharing; keep a separate backup ZIP for a full restore.
Record milk production for one animal
Record the measured milk quantity for an individual active female, using Milk Production rather than Milk Sale. Keep milk production measurements, milk sales and received payments in their respective records. Check the animal and measured volume before saving; this form records the time when you enter the measurement.
Record a milk sale and its payment status
Record an actual milk sale in the correct business, with its volume, price and collection status. Milk Sale calculates the sale total from liters and unit price. It keeps the sale distinct from production and records income for the amount collected. Choose payment status deliberately because the initial selection is Paid.
Record an animal sale and the amount collected
Use Live Sale on the correct active animal when a sale has actually occurred. This changes the animal to sold, adds a sale event, cancels open lifecycle reminders and changes the ration membership context. It also records the sale’s collection state. Check all sale details before saving; use Revert Status for eligible changes such as lost or dead status, and ask support about correcting a saved sale.
Record a later payment against an existing sale
When a buyer pays an existing milk or animal sale, record the new collection against that sale. Enter only the additional amount received now; keep the original sale total and earlier collections in their existing records. It updates the sale’s paid amount, remaining balance and linked income without creating another sale.
Get started with HerdMobile
Create your profile, then add your first farm, herd and animal. HerdMobile keeps your records on your Android phone, ready to use even without internet. Before entering a whole herd, check the first saved animal and create a backup file you can find outside the app.
Add an animal with the correct ear tag
Use the Animal Record form to connect an animal to its business and herd. Enter the physical ear tag carefully, then add known details such as breed, birth date, purchase information or a photo. Review the saved record before adding the next animal, especially when several tags look similar.
Back up records and move to a new phone
Create a manual ZIP backup, keep a copy outside the phone, and inspect its preview before restoring. Restore replaces the destination device’s local records. Choose the backup file and save or pick it through Google Drive when you want to transfer your records. A PIN-protected backup needs the PIN that was active when that file was created.
Set an app PIN on this phone
Set a local app PIN from Profile before leaving the phone with other people. The app lock controls access to HerdMobile on this device. It is separate from a cloud account and from the phone’s own screen lock. Keep the PIN securely so you can use the app and understand the protection of later backup files.
Change the current app PIN
Change the app PIN by entering your current PIN and typing the new PIN twice. Check that the change saves successfully before relying on it. Keep the original PIN for each older encrypted ZIP until you have created and checked a replacement backup.
Turn off the local app lock
Use the dedicated disable action and confirm the current app PIN when you deliberately want to remove the local app lock. Read the warning first: with the lock off, new backups are not password-protected. Older protected files keep their existing protection. Removing a lock is different from deleting animal records or recovering a forgotten PIN.
Set quiet hours for local reminders
Choose when local reminder alerts should be quiet, then save and inspect the displayed interval. Quiet hours are part of the app’s local notification preferences. Check your existing reminders and Android notification permission separately after setting the interval. Use Calendar to review the actual work due even when you deliberately keep the phone quiet.
Record a feed purchase and its unit weight
Record a real feed delivery against the correct business, keeping the purchase amount and weight basis clear. Kilograms and tonnes describe mass; sacks, bales and pieces need a weight per unit to contribute to kilogram stock. Keep the invoice and check the resulting stock instead of assuming every counted item has a standard weight.
Record a feed withdrawal from stock
Use the consumption entry to record a real feed withdrawal from a business’s stock. Check the feed identity, amount and unit before saving. Use this stock movement alongside separate records of feed offered to the animals and feed left in the trough. Avoid recording the same feed twice when it has already been deducted through a daily ration application.
Correct an existing animal record
Use Edit on the existing animal to correct its identity, herd assignment or optional details. Check the ear tag before changing anything and verify the saved result afterwards. Creating a second animal to fix a typing mistake can split the history across two records; keeping the existing record preserves the link to its events.
Archive an animal without deleting its history
Archive removes an animal from the normal active list while retaining the stored animal and history. Use it deliberately on the correct record. It also cancels open lifecycle reminders for that animal and changes the membership context used by rations. Use archive for this purpose; record a sale or death through its dedicated control and use filters to change the list view.
Record a lost, dead or slaughtered animal
Use Status Record for a confirmed loss, death or slaughter on an active animal. Choose the correct category and add a clear note before saving. This changes the animal’s lifecycle, cancels open lifecycle reminders and requires affected ration membership to be reassessed. A sale has its own flow and should not be recorded as a loss.
Record a completed vaccination and its follow-up
Save a completed vaccination against the right animal with its actual date and vaccine name. Add a follow-up date to keep the next visit on your reminder list, with the vaccination paperwork alongside the dated record.
Record a health observation
Keep a dated account of what you observed in the correct animal. A Health event can preserve a change in appetite, behaviour or another factual observation for later discussion with your veterinarian. Keep dated symptoms and observations together to make the animal’s health history easier to follow. Record what you know and keep uncertain information clearly identified.
Record a completed treatment
Use Treatment to record a procedure that actually took place. Keep the date and description consistent with the veterinarian’s instructions and your farm records. Copy the medicine, dose and withdrawal instructions from the treatment plan into your notes for a clear history. Ask the responsible veterinarian about decisions affecting care or saleable produce. Do not record a planned procedure as completed; keep the record factual.
Record a parasite-related event
Use Parasite for a parasite-related observation or completed procedure in the animal’s history. Clearly note whether an entry is an observation or a treatment given, along with the date and source. The category is a way to organise records. Keep the parasite observations, product details and completed work together with your existing prevention plan. Discuss health decisions with your veterinarian and do not present an unconfirmed finding as certain.
Record a reproduction event for a female animal
Record a reproduction event that actually happened on the correct female animal with its date and notes so her breeding history stays easy to check. Use confirmed service and pregnancy records when scheduling future checks, and keep veterinary pregnancy findings separate from your own heat or mating observations. Verify any uncertain dates or details against the original breeding records before saving.
Record a birth on the mother’s timeline
Use Birth to add a dated event to the mother’s history after a birth has actually occurred. Verify the mother’s ear tag and write down the facts you know. Save the mother’s birth event, then add each newborn through Animal Record using its own ear tag. Keep the mother’s event and the offspring’s identity record as separate tasks. Check missing information against the original farm record instead of guessing.
