Feed cost: farm glossary
Feed cost is the money assigned to feed for a stated animal group, activity and period. It depends on the quantity used and the price attached to that quantity. A purchase records feed entering the business; daily feeding cost describes feed used in the selected period. These amounts help explain both the store and the cost of the ration.
A farm example
For a daily group calculation, the costs of the feeds used are added together. Each feed quantity is multiplied by the matching price per unit before the total is calculated.
Everyday use
HerdMobile calculates ration cost from selected feed amounts and prices. Farm expense records provide the wider account alongside the feed cost for the animal group.
