Remaining amount: farm glossary

Remaining amount is the part of a transaction total still open after its recorded payments. It is found by comparing the total with the amount already settled. The figure changes as payments are added. For a sale it shows the money still to collect; for a purchase it shows the amount still to pay.

A farm example

A partial payment reduces the remaining amount for the related sale. A later collection reduces it again, while the original sale total continues to describe the full agreed price.

Everyday use

In HerdMobile, payment dates and amounts help follow this balance. Opening the sale and its collections together shows which payments explain the current amount outstanding.
