Actual cost: farm glossary

Actual cost is the cost of farm work completed or inputs already purchased. Delivery quantities and invoice prices provide the purchase figures; feed used from stock contributes to the cost of feeding. A purchase cost can be incurred before its payment is made. The payment date shows when money leaves the farm account.

A farm example

A delivered feed load has a purchase cost even when the supplier is paid later. The cost of feeding during a period follows the quantities used from that stock. Purchased feed and consumed feed can therefore be followed separately.

Everyday use

HerdMobile keeps purchases, expenses and feed use in dated records. These figures support comparisons with the earlier budget and help plan the next feed purchase.
