Reference value: farm glossary
A reference value is a stated value used for comparison or as an input from an identified source. A feed table may give an average nutrient composition, while a product label describes a particular product. The source and units explain which kind of value is being used in the feeding information.
A farm example
A catalog’s dry-matter value and a new forage analysis can describe different material or observations. The current analysis gives information about its sampled batch, while the table provides the reference used for comparison.
Everyday use
HerdMobile feed profiles include sourced reference values with their units. The farmer can use the values of the selected feeds when calculating a ration from the ingredients available on the farm.
How HerdMobile helps
Bring your animals, feed stocks and farm accounts together on your Android phone. HerdMobile keeps your daily work moving offline: record events, compare feed quantities and follow sales and payments in one place. Use your own feeds and herd information to prepare a ration, then keep a backup file under your control.
