Source version: farm glossary

Source version, or edition, identifies the revision of a book, feed table or reference database behind a nutrient figure. The publication name and edition distinguish updated references from earlier ones. A revision may change nutrient values, units or the way a value is defined.

A farm example

Illustrative table comparison: an earlier edition gives a forage’s average crude protein as 15% of dry matter, and a revised edition gives 16%. The source version identifies the edition behind each figure.

Everyday use
