Copper: farm glossary
Copper is a trace mineral found in feeds and mineral products. It is an essential nutrient, and excess copper is dangerous to sheep. Copper can be expressed as the amount per kilogram in one feed, the concentration in the complete ration, or the total supplied to an animal each day. The daily total includes forage, compound feed and supplements.

A farm example
Copper may be reported in milligrams per kilogram of dry matter. Each ingredient's copper contribution is found by multiplying its copper per kilogram of dry matter by the kilograms of dry matter fed per day.
Everyday use
HerdMobile applies sheep-specific copper checks in ration calculations. Mineral products labelled for sheep and all selected ration ingredients are included with their daily amounts so the copper check covers the complete mixture. Suspected poisoning requires prompt veterinary attention with the product and feeding details available.
How HerdMobile helps
Bring your animals, feed stocks and farm accounts together on your Android phone. HerdMobile keeps your daily work moving offline: record events, compare feed quantities and follow sales and payments in one place. Use your own feeds and herd information to prepare a ration, then keep a backup file under your control.
