Lower bound: farm glossary
A lower bound is the minimum value in a stated range, given with the nutrient name, unit and weight basis such as dry matter or as-fed. A feed label may state a guaranteed minimum. A calculated profile bound instead describes the minimum under that calculation.
A farm example
Illustrative label: “Crude protein: minimum 18% as fed” gives a lower bound of 18%. On that basis, 1 kg of feed supplies at least 180 g of crude protein.
Everyday use
HerdMobile reference tables retain lower-bound labels where supplied. Showing the minimum value together with its unit and dry-matter or as-fed basis makes clear what baseline figure is displayed for that feed in the ration.
How HerdMobile helps
Bring your animals, feed stocks and farm accounts together on your Android phone. HerdMobile keeps your daily work moving offline: record events, compare feed quantities and follow sales and payments in one place. Use your own feeds and herd information to prepare a ration, then keep a backup file under your control.
