Unit price: farm glossary

Unit price is the price of one stated unit of a product. The unit might be a kilogram, a tonne, a litre or a sack of a stated weight. Multiplying the unit price by the matching quantity gives the purchase value. The currency and the unit together describe what that price means.

A farm example

A feed price per tonne and a price per sack become comparable after both are converted to the same weight. The sack’s actual weight is part of that conversion.

Everyday use

HerdMobile uses feed prices with the quantities in a ration to calculate daily cost. The farm account also keeps the amount and date of each purchase or payment.

How HerdMobile helps

Bring your animals, feed stocks and farm accounts together on your Android phone. HerdMobile keeps your daily work moving offline: record events, compare feed quantities and follow sales and payments in one place. Use your own feeds and herd information to prepare a ration, then keep a backup file under your control.
