Archive an animal without deleting its history

Archive removes an animal from the normal active list while retaining the stored animal and history. Use it deliberately on the correct record. It also cancels open lifecycle reminders for that animal and changes the membership context used by rations. Use archive for this purpose; record a sale or death through its dedicated control and use filters to change the list view.

  1. Check the animal and your purpose

Open the animal’s detail page and compare its ear tag and business with your source records. Decide whether you really want to archive it. Record a completed sale in the animal sale form; use Status Record for a lost, dead or slaughtered animal. If you only want a shorter list for today, use the herd filters instead of altering the record’s lifecycle.

  2. Review the consequences before tapping

Locate Archive beside Edit. Read your current reminders and ration context before using it. The current button calls the archive operation directly, so do not expect a separate confirmation screen to catch an accidental tap. If you are unsure about the animal or the meaning of archiving, leave the page without pressing the action and check your records first.

  3. Archive the intended record once

Choose Archive only when the decision is correct. The app retains the animal, marks it archived and adds an archive event. Open lifecycle reminders are cancelled, and affected ration membership is invalidated for reassessment. An archived record’s editing and archive actions are disabled. Do not keep tapping or add a second copy of the animal to recreate the actions.

  4. Find the retained record and review follow-up

Return to the herd list and use Include archived when you need to inspect the retained record. Check the animal and its history rather than interpreting its disappearance from the normal list as deletion. Review any outstanding farm tasks separately because cancelled reminders are no longer a reliable prompt for them. Reassess affected rations before applying another plan.

Can I use status reversal to undo archive?

Revert Status appears only for non-archived animals marked Lost, Death or Slaughter. If you archived the wrong animal, keep the existing records as they are and contact product support before adding a new animal. History, reminders and ration links stay with the original record; a second record for the same animal starts a separate history.

Should I restore a backup to reverse one tap?

A restore replaces the destination records rather than changing just one animal’s archived status, and it can remove later entries made elsewhere in the app. Keep reliable backups unchanged, note the archive action and its time, and check what has been entered since the backup before replacing current records. The archive retains the animal’s history in your local records for later reference.
