Record a feed purchase and its unit weight

Record a real feed delivery against the correct business, keeping the purchase amount and weight basis clear. Kilograms and tonnes describe mass; sacks, bales and pieces need a weight per unit to contribute to kilogram stock. Keep the invoice and check the resulting stock instead of assuming every counted item has a standard weight.

  1. Choose the purchase action

Open Finance for the intended business and choose Feed Expense. Check the displayed entry title and business before typing. Feed purchases and feed consumption have different effects, so do not use a purchase to represent a withdrawal. Keep the invoice or your actual delivery record beside you while preparing the entry.

  2. Identify the feed and quantity

Fill Feed name consistently with the feed you intend to track. Enter Quantity and select its actual unit. If using a sack, bale or piece, fill the kilograms in one unit from reliable delivery information or a suitable measurement. Do not put the whole delivery’s kilograms into a field asking for one item’s weight.

  3. Record the financial details

Enter the total purchase Amount in the relevant currency, then add supplier information, a note and critical stock information when appropriate. Use Invoice photo if you want to retain a supporting image through the device’s media flow. Attach a photo to keep the invoice handy, then enter the quantity and price from the original document.

  4. Save and reconcile stock

Select Save once and review the resulting movement and kilogram stock. If a missing-weight notice appears, use Enter kg on the existing purchase and supply the verified unit weight. Do not add the same delivery again to make stock appear. Compare the result with the physical store and keep the original invoice separately for later checks.

Which basis does the stock use?

The stock calculation is in kilograms of the feed as handled, not dry matter kilograms. Keep that distinction when using a nutrition analysis or the website’s converter. For counted units, a missing weight prevents a reliable kilogram contribution. Open the purchase identified by the warning and compare its payment and stock information with the invoice.

What should I do after a batch of purchases?

Check the business, feed identity and weight basis on representative movements, then reconcile with invoices and physical inventory. Retain an explanation for any correction. Make a deliberate backup after important entry work. Do not invent a delivery to balance stock or treat a recorded quantity as proof of feed quality or ration suitability.
