Change the current app PIN

Change the app PIN by entering your current PIN and typing the new PIN twice. Check that the change saves successfully before relying on it. Keep the original PIN for each older encrypted ZIP until you have created and checked a replacement backup.

  1. Choose the change action

Open Profile, select App lock active and choose Change PIN. Check that you are working in the intended local profile. This action changes access to the app on this device; manage the phone’s screen lock and stored backup files separately. Leave your existing backup files unchanged during the operation.

  2. Confirm the current PIN

Enter the existing app PIN in Current PIN. Use the PIN you set for HerdMobile; manage your Android screen lock separately. If the app reports a wrong PIN or a waiting period after repeated failures, respect that result. If you have forgotten it, follow the separate recovery flow rather than repeatedly submitting guesses.

  3. Enter the replacement twice

Fill New PIN and Confirm new PIN with the same replacement value. Review the form before selecting Save once. A mismatch is a reason to correct the confirmation, not to delete the profile. Wait for the outcome; if a persistence warning appears, keep the app open and preserve the details of the attempted change.

  4. Verify and retain old backup protection

After a normal successful save, verify that the new PIN unlocks the intended profile when the app requires it. Keep the previous PIN securely if an older ZIP was protected with it. Create and verify a fresh backup deliberately if you want a file associated with the new protection, keeping the previous file until the new copy has been checked.

Which PIN does an older ZIP need?

Use the PIN that protected that file when it was created. The lock setting applies to the current app; keep each exported ZIP safe and store its original PIN separately, with a note identifying the matching file. After changing your app PIN, check each backup separately: select the file, enter the PIN used when it was made and inspect its preview before restoring.

What should I avoid during the change?

Do not clear app storage, uninstall the app or restore an unrelated backup just to clear a PIN error. Keep your PIN private when sharing screenshots. If a PIN change shows a warning or you are unsure whether it saved, check the lock setting in the app before relying on the new PIN, and keep your phone records and farm notes intact.
