Run the current-stock ration cost search
Find best cost searches for a compatible ration using the supported target and current stock. The simple farmer form asks for weight, daily milk and lactation information; its stock mode is fixed to current inventory. A feasible result creates an optimized template. After reviewing the template, assign it to the intended animals, arrange needed purchases and record daily feeding separately.
Check the selected animals and scope
In the ration overview, verify Business and Herd before choosing Find best cost. At least one active animal is needed to enable the action. The selected scope supplies the target animals. A group can be rejected if its development stage or production cohort is not suitable for one calculation. Do not alter true animal facts merely to force different animals into a single optimization run.
Review the simple target fields
Enter known values in Live weight kg and Daily milk liters where appropriate, and check Lactating deliberately. Entering a weight in this form marks it as a visual estimate rather than a verified scale measurement. Use the animal details on this screen and check the feed already available in stock before starting the calculation. Blank optional fields do not justify inventing measurements; saved profiles and supported assumptions may still affect the calculation or cause a blocking warning.
Run the search using real inventory and prices
Choose Find best cost once and read the result. This UI uses current-stock mode. Candidate feeds need usable dry matter, a known effective price and compatibility, and stock constraints are part of the search. Check the available feeds, recorded stock and prices before starting the search with the selected options. Check actual records rather than adding fictional stock or arbitrary prices to produce a cheaper-looking result.
Review the resulting template or infeasible result
A feasible search saves an optimized template and run result that you can assign to the intended animals afterward. Check the ingredients, quantities, cost basis and warnings before assigning the template. For an infeasible run, check the recorded feeds, prices and search settings, then adjust the inputs using your farm’s actual information. Keep existing active plans in place until you deliberately assign a replacement.
Compare the cost search with farm records
The optimization builds a ration from your eligible feeds, recorded inventory, known prices and supplied animal information. Compare the calculated cost, nutrients and available stock together using current farm prices and the group’s latest production records. Assignment and daily stock posting remain separate steps, so do not record extra consumption or a purchase merely because an optimized template was created.
