Record a birth on the mother’s timeline

Use Birth to add a dated event to the mother’s history after a birth has actually occurred. Verify the mother’s ear tag and write down the facts you know. Save the mother’s birth event, then add each newborn through Animal Record using its own ear tag. Keep the mother’s event and the offspring’s identity record as separate tasks. Check missing information against the original farm record instead of guessing.

  1. Check the animal and existing record

Before choosing Add Event, compare the animal’s ear tag and business with your source record. Health, treatment, parasite, reproduction and birth events require an active, unarchived animal. If this is the wrong record, close the form and find the correct animal. If an earlier attempt had an uncertain outcome, inspect its timeline before adding another event to avoid a duplicate.

  2. Select the mother and record the completed birth

Choose Add Event on the active female that gave birth, then select Birth. The option is shown only for females and the app’s data rules reject this event for males. Check Title and write a specific description. Use Note for known details from the birth record, including identifiers that help connect the history later. Keep the mother’s and newborn’s dated health observations and care instructions together with the birth record.

  3. Separate event and follow-up dates

Event date initially shows today. For an earlier event, enter its actual date as YYYY-MM-DD or use the calendar. A future event date is rejected. The calendar uses the mother’s recorded birth date as its lower limit; check a typed date yourself too. Follow-up date is separate and optional. Enter the planned check date here and keep the date of the completed event in its own field.

  4. Save and verify the result

If attaching an optional photo, wait for selection to finish. Review the required Title and the dates, then choose Save once. Correct the cause of any warning rather than submitting unchanged values repeatedly. Inspect the animal’s timeline for the saved date, category and description. If you entered a follow-up date, check the linked reminder. Check quiet hours, Android notification permission and battery settings so the phone is ready to show reminders.

Create and check the offspring separately

After checking the mother’s saved event, open the add-animal form for each offspring that needs its own record. Check its ear tag, sex, actual birth date and parent details against your source information. Enter each newborn’s identity and any available parent information in its own animal record, then check the saved details. Do not enter the mother again as a new animal, and do not create duplicate offspring while trying to find a missing event.
