Set an app PIN on this phone
Set a local app PIN from Profile before leaving the phone with other people. The app lock controls access to HerdMobile on this device. It is separate from a cloud account and from the phone’s own screen lock. Keep the PIN securely so you can use the app and understand the protection of later backup files.
Open the current profile
Open Profile and confirm it is the local profile you intend to protect. If the lock is not configured, the button reads Set PIN. Select it to open the PIN form. The profile and PIN protect records on this phone; use backup and restore when carrying them to another device.
Enter and confirm the PIN
Enter the PIN in the PIN field and repeat exactly the same value in Confirm new PIN. Choose a value you can store securely instead of copying an ear tag or financial amount from a visible record. Enter your PIN only in the app’s lock controls; keep help searches focused on the message or task.
Save once and read the result
Select Save and wait for the result. If the form reports that the two values do not match, correct the confirmation before trying again. If a device-save warning appears, keep the app open and follow the troubleshooting checks to confirm which lock setting was saved.
Verify access and the backup habit
After a normal successful save, check that the app presents the expected lock when required and that your PIN unlocks the intended profile. Keep existing ZIP files unchanged. New protected backups and old backups may have different protection depending on when they were made. Make a deliberate new backup using the backup guide and retain the PIN associated with that file.
Does the app PIN replace Android security?
No. Keep the phone’s own lock and access settings appropriate for your situation. App access, device access and possession of an exported file are different concerns. Protect access to older exported ZIP files separately and keep each file’s original PIN in a safe place. Store backups somewhere you control.
What should I check before sharing the phone?
Make sure your new PIN is saved, keep it off written animal cards and screenshots, and know where your most recent backup is stored. Do not test the lock by deleting app data. If you later forget the PIN, use the recovery option on a supported device and keep older backup PINs stored separately.
