Turn off the local app lock
Use the dedicated disable action and confirm the current app PIN when you deliberately want to remove the local app lock. Read the warning first: with the lock off, new backups are not password-protected. Older protected files keep their existing protection. Removing a lock is different from deleting animal records or recovering a forgotten PIN.
Decide whether removal is intended
Check who can access this phone on the farm and where you keep exported backups. If you only want to update a known PIN, use the change PIN guide instead; if you forgot it, use the recovery option on a supported device. Turn off the lock when you want people with access to the phone to be able to open the app. Keep backup and storage problems separate from this setting.
Open the disable form
In Profile, select App lock active and then Turn off app lock. Read the form’s backup warning before continuing. This setting applies to new backups made while the lock is off; retain the original PIN for each older protected ZIP. Keep a clear distinction between app access and each exported file.
Confirm the current PIN
Enter the current app credential in Current PIN and select Turn off app lock once. If the PIN is rejected, stop and check the intended credential. Respect any waiting period after repeated failed attempts. Do not remove the app, clear its data or delete a profile in order to bypass this confirmation.
Check the resulting access state
After a normal successful result, return to Profile and check that the control now offers setting a PIN. Check that your existing animal records remain present. If a device-save warning appears, treat the outcome as uncertain and preserve the open app while following troubleshooting guidance. Do not create or share an unprotected backup without understanding who can obtain it.
Does this decrypt my earlier backups?
No. An exported protected ZIP is a separate file and retains the protection it had when created. Store its original PIN securely while that file is needed. If you later enable the app lock again, make a deliberate new backup and verify its location and protection rather than assuming all older copies changed with the setting.
What happens to the records?
The disable action concerns the app lock, not record deletion. Keep a reliable backup before major device changes and avoid using destructive settings as a lock test. The phone’s own security still matters. Manage the PIN on the phone and protect access to the device and any exported backup files.
