With the lock off, new backups are not password-protected.

Turning off the app lock makes new backup ZIPs unencrypted, so anyone who has a copy can read them.

Why does this happen?

This warning appears in Turn off app lock. Older ZIP files keep the protection they had when you saved them.

How do I check it?

  1. Open Profile → App lock active → Turn off app lock. To keep the lock, close this screen. To use a different PIN, choose Change PIN.

  2. To turn the lock off, enter Current PIN and tap Turn off app lock. If you have forgotten it and Forgot PIN is shown, follow the PIN recovery guide first.

  3. Check the setting in Profile. Keep new backups in a private folder and share them only with people you choose. To protect future backups with a PIN, choose Set PIN before making them.

How do I verify the result?

New backups use the lock setting in place when you create them. Keep older ZIPs with their original dates and PINs.

How do I keep my records safe?

Keep the original phone and earlier backups. Store each backup PIN securely and separately from its ZIP, and keep a backup copy outside the phone.
