Mother or father ear tag cannot be the animal's own tag.

Correct the repeated ear tag so the animal and its parents each have their own identity.

Why does this happen?

Mother ear tag or Father ear tag matches the animal’s own tag. The app removes surrounding spaces and compares letters in uppercase when adding an animal or changing any of these tags.

How do I check it?

  1. Compare Ear tag number with the animal’s physical tag or animal card. Then check Mother ear tag and Father ear tag against your breeding notes.

  2. Correct the mistaken field with the actual animal’s tag. Leave an unknown parent’s field blank and keep any known parent’s correct tag.

  3. Choose Save, then reopen the animal and check all three fields against your records. Correct the existing animal record so each animal stays recorded once.

How do I verify the result?

The saved animal and parent tags should match your farm records. Use breeding notes to confirm the family relationship.

How do I keep my records safe?

Keep the animal’s correct ear tag while fixing a copied parent number. Clearing a parent field in Edit Animal removes that saved parent tag when you save.
